Aon Affinity trip insurance is an un-American rip-off scam and AAA should definitely stop using this insurance company and switch to another company that actually pays on their claims! At a bare minimum, AAA travel agents should stop telling customers that Aon permits cancellation "for any reason" and provide unsuspecting customers with the extremely short list of "specified non-medical reasons for cancellation" before customers pay $$$$$$ for this totally worthless insurance product!
We booked a 10-day European vacation through AAA travel for my husband and myself, our adult son and his companion. Our son is in the Navy, and although he had leave cleared for the dates of our trip, we know from experience that military leaves can be cancelled at a moment's notice. It was for this reason that we bought trip insurance through Aon Affinity. We paid a significantly higher price for this insurance because we were told by the travel agent that we would be covered if we cancelled our trip "for any reason," which we understood to include cancelled military leave.
As it turns out, our son's leave was cancelled, and because our trip was intended as a family vacation, we cancelled the trip and filed a claim for reimbursement with Aon Affinity. But our claim was denied because change in military orders was not one of the "specified non-medical reasons for cancellation."
We were ripped off! Certainly our travel agent at AAA should have informed us that there were "specified non-medical reasons for cancellation" before we paid significantly more $$$$ for this high-priced rip-off. Rather than misinforming us and saying that we could cancel "for any reason," which definitely turned out not to be true. Now we are out our trip money as well as the outrageous sum that we paid for this worthless travel insurance!
