I was contacted by OAN Services for search engine optimization for our company site. They insisted that I would not be charged for their optional service, so I stupidly went through the motions of recording my answers with a supervisor.
She kept talking loudly on the line with me, talking over the recording and telling me what to say to get through it more quickly. Now I have a $39.95 charge on my company phone bill. What the WHAT!!!?? I kept telling myself, I should not have to go through a recorded conversation to get something free.
I should have trusted my instincts.
These things take months to get off your bill. Lesson: HANG UP when you get a call asking for search engine optimization 'for your already existing listing'.
Monetary Loss: $39.
